Your guide to Russia

OFFLINE (in stores)

This method is good because you can try everything on and assess the quality of the fabric in person.
Step 1: Where to go? Main Options
Specialized "Medical Clothing" stores:
  • What it is: Chains of stores that sell everything for medical professionals, from uniforms to stethoscopes.
  • Pros: The largest selection, consultants will help with sizing, you can try things on immediately.
  • How to find: Type these phrases into Google or Yandex Maps: "медицинская одежда Москва" (medical clothing Moscow), "магазин для медработников" (store for medical workers), "куплю медицинский халат" (buy medical coat).
Step 2: How to get there and what to do in the store
Navigation:
Use Yandex Maps or Google Maps. They will show you the best route using public transport. Just enter the store's name or address.
The Metro is your best friend.
It's the fastest way to get around Moscow.
In the store:
  • Immediately show the consultant your university's requirements.
  • Don't be shy about trying things on. The coat should fit comfortably and not restrict your movement.
  • Check the quality of the seams and the fabric. It's better to choose cotton with a small addition of synthetic material – it wrinkles less.
Step 3: Budget and Payment
Prices (approximate): A simple coat can be found from 1,000-1,500 rubles. A quality, well-tailored one made from good fabric starts from 2,000-3,000 rubles and up.
Payment: Bring some cash with you, but you can pay by card almost everywhere.

Buying Medical Uniforms ONLINE

This is convenient if you don't have time to go to a store, but there are risks with sizing.

Step 1: Choosing an online store
Look for the same specialized stores, but in their online versions.

Reliable options:

  • Wildberries – a marketplace giant. Huge selection, often good prices. Search for: "медицинский халат" (medical coat), "халат медицинский женский/мужской" (medical coat women's/men's).
  • OZON – another major marketplace. Also has many offerings
Step 2: How to choose the right size and avoid mistakes
Take your measurements
You will need your height and chest circumference. Use a measuring tape (if you don't have one, you can use a string and then measure it with a ruler).
Study the size chart
Every manufacturer has their own! Don't buy based on a guess.
Read the reviews!
Pay special attention to comments about "actual sizing" (runs small/runs large) and fabric quality.
Step 3: Placing an order and delivery
Delivery
Marketplaces often offer delivery to a pickup point (PVD) near your metro station or dorm. This is cheap and convenient.
Trying on
When you receive your order, be sure to try it on immediately, without removing the tags. If something doesn't fit, you can process a return right at the pickup point.
Payment
Paying online by card is safe.

Life Hacks for a First-Year Student in Moscow

Don't panic
Moscow can be intimidating with its size at first, but it's very logically organized. The metro is a clear system.
Maps are your best friends.
Yandex Maps, Google Maps, the "Moscow Metro" app.
Ask older students!
They definitely know the best stores in your area and will give you the most relevant advice. This is the golden rule.
Don't buy a lot of expensive items right away.
One or two coats might be enough for the beginning. Later you'll figure out which styles and fabrics suit you best.

Quick Action Plan:

Check the requirements for the student's basic kits (Basic medical kits)
Open Yandex Maps, find the nearest "medical clothing" store, or check marketplaces
If you have time and energy – go to the store
If you're short on time – order online on Wildberries or OZON, after carefully studying the size chart and reviews
