RU ID

Beginning June 30, 2025, a new requirement comes into effect for foreign citizens entering the Russian Federation under a visa-free regime. At least 72 hours before the date of entry, travelers must submit an application and obtain entry authorization through the mobile application “Gosuslugi RuID”.

Gosuslugi RuID is a new mobile application developed by the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation. It serves as an international counterpart to the Russian government services portal “Gosuslugi”, specifically adapted for foreign citizens.

Choose your language

Upon installation, the app will prompt you to select the interface language. Available options include English, Armenian, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Russian, Tajik, Uzbek, and others. Select your preferred language and press “Continue”.

Logging into RuID

If you already have an account on the main Gosuslugi portal, you can log in directly:

Tap “Login” in the top-left corner of the RuID screen.

Choose one of the following login methods:

Enter your username and password (phone number, email address, or SNILS).
Use a digital signature (must be created in advance).
Scan a QR code using a second device with the Gosuslugi app installed.

The simplest method is logging in with your username and password.

Use an electronic signature (it must be created in advance)

The second solution has many nuances: you will need to connect an electronic signature carrier – a token or a smart card – and also install a special plugin and certificate.
In addition, the signature will not work if it is not specified as a login method in your "Gosuslugi" personal account.

Scan a QR code (this will require a second device with a camera)

The last option is of medium complexity. If you prefer it, sel ect the "QR code" button – it will be displayed on the screen.
Then open "Gosuslugi" on the second smartphone, find "goskan" in the upper right corner and point the camera at the code fr om RuID.
Prepare everything for login in advance – the QR code is valid for only one minute. If everything is done correctly – congratulations, you are authorized!

Login method - registration

If you do not have an account on "Gosuslugi", then you need to press the blue "Register" button in the center of the screen.

For security, the system needs to create a unique chain of numbers, and you need to press the button at the bottom and move your finger across the screen. This will take only a few seconds.

Answer the question about SNILS

SNILS is the insurance number of an individual personal account. It will be useful for, for example, legally getting a job in Russia, as well as receiving medical care and social payments from the state.

If you have this document, enter its eleven-digit number. If not – SNILS will be created automatically.

Add information about yourself

It is needed so that the system can identify you and send a request to databases. Prepare the passport with which you plan to go to the Russian Federation and press "Fill out".

In the opened form, you need to specify your last name, first name and patronymic (if any). Make sure they are written exactly as in the passport. If they are presented in English in the document, enter them in English. Then add your date of birth, email and gender and press "Continue".

On the next screen, enter the passport data: series, number, country of issue, date of issue and expiration date (if available). Specify your citizenship and place of birth. Check that the information in the document and in the application match.

Great, you have filled out the form. The system will show the entered data once again – check it. If everything is correct, press the "All correct" button.

Enter the code from the picture. When you submit information about yourself, an image with a cipher will be displayed on the screen. It should be typed on the smartphone's keyboard – this is how the system checks whether you are a robot or a human.

It remains to wait a little while the information is processed. When the registration is completed, you will have a digital profile of a foreign citizen. With it, you can submit applications for entry (at least 72 hours before crossing the border), check for restrictions on crossing the border, receive state services online and more.

IMPORTANT!

The application operates in an experimental mode, technical failures are possible. If you see the inscriptions "Failed to send data", "Service temporarily unavailable" or "Something went wrong", check your internet connection. If it is available, wait a bit and try again. The application saves the text you have already entered – you will not need to enter it again.

If you have an account on "Gosuslugi" but you do not remember the password for it and are registering in RuID as a new user, difficulties may arise. The application will determine the presence of an account by SNILS or email address. To complete the registration, you will have to enter other data or recover the password.
