This document regulates:
  • Grounds for leave (medical, family, military service)
  • Procedure for arrangement (application, documents, deadlines)
  • Conditions for fee-paying and preferential category students (compensations, dormitory)
  • Consequences of non-return after leave

1. General Provisions

Purpose
To establish the procedure for granting academic leaves to students of Sechenov University (undergraduates, postgraduate students, residents).
Regulatory Framework
  • Federal Law No. 273-FZ "On Education in the Russian Federation"
  • Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation No. 455 dated 13.06.2013
  • University Charter and local regulations

2. Conditions for Granting Academic Leave

Grounds:
  • Medical reasons (conclusion of a medical commission)
  • Family circumstances (e.g., childcare or care for a seriously ill relative)
  • Conscription for military service (based on a military commissariat summons)
  • Other valid reasons (as decided by the University)
Duration: Up to 2 years (unlimited number of times during the study period)

3. Procedure for Arrangement

Application Submission
  • The student submits a personal application to the Dean's Office/Department (depending on the program).
  • Documents confirming the reason for leave must be attached (medical certificate, summons, etc.).
Decision
  • Made by the Rector or Vice-Rector within 10 days of document submission.
  • Formalized by an order.

4. Special Conditions

For Fee-Paying Students
  • Tuition fees are not charged during the leave.
  • An additional agreement to the contract is concluded.
Payments
  • Students on leave for medical reasons receive monthly compensation (according to RF Government Decree No. 1206 dated 03.11.1994).
Dormitory
  • The right to reside is retained in accordance with the University's local regulations.

5. Leave Completion

Early: Upon the student's application.
Automatic: Upon expiration of the period specified in the order.
Failure to Return: Leads to expulsion.
Maximum duration is 2 years, but it can be taken multiple times.
For medical reasons, a medical commission certificate is mandatory.
Fee-paying students do not pay tuition during the leave.
